OH, Hector

We have a Toyota Corolla 1999. It's name is Hector.

It is falling apart.

About the 3rd day Jeremy was in the passengers side, the handle broke off while he was trying to get out. This means that we would have to roll down the window, in the blizzard cold snowy weather of Logan, to open the door. Real Classy.

And since Jeremy is not on the insurance yet, I usually drive us around town. When we would have to get out of the car, I would tell him to wait and that I would open his door for him to keep from getting the snow in. I wonder what people think, the girl opening the guys door. Real Classy.

A couple nights ago I was teaching voice lessons and got stuck on the ice of the driveway of the house I teach at. I went to try and open the drivers door and it was frozen shut. This meant I had to crawl in from the broken passengers side to the drivers. And then, when I had to get out, I had to climb over to the passenger side, roll down the window, and open the door from the outside. Real Classy.

I was so blessed though. This man driving in his huge truck noticed I was stuck on the ice. He had a tow rope, hooked it up, and pulled me out. It is so nice when people are willing to take a second out of their busy schedules to help a complete stranger. I feel very blessed and am so grateful to that man.

In conclusion, I was so fed up with the car, tears flowing, that Jeremy bought a new handle and installed it yesterday. It is beautiful.

No more awkward opening doors or climbing over. I love having a husband that is such a handy man. So very lucky :)

Love,
The Bowes

FHE #1

We had our first family home evening on Monday as our little family. We got this book for our wedding on 101 family home evening lessons for newly weds!

Oh man, some of these are cheesy beyond cheesy, but make me smile nonetheless:) I decided we are going to do every lesson single lesson, regardless of the cheese involved.

Lesson #1 involved a scavenger hunt where you walked around the house with a plastic bag and found items to describe things like
-your spouse
-your wedding
-your engagement
-your home
-your future
-your home
-your dating life
etc.

So we wandered around the house for 5 minutest collecting our items and it was time to share.

My favorite thing Jeremy grabbed was a candy cane.

This was to symbolize our dating life according to him. He said 3 things...

1. I got you "hooked"
2. It was sweet.
3. (he turned the candy cane upside down so it looked like a "J") "It was joyful"

Okay, so maybe its not the cheesy FHE book, but the cheesy husband. Hahahaha :) He makes me smile.

Happy FHE!

Jeremy is now on the Utah State Volleyball team :)

I can't wait to go watch him play :)

Christmas 2011

A couple days before we were married, Jer and I took a trip down to the temple. It was beautiful and talking about how we would be married there in 5 days was so special. This is right before we left to go.
Jer getting everything ready to head out.
The temple was so stunning. We got there in the day light, and then when we came out, it was night. The grounds had christmas lights every where that were so pretty.
Here are some of the Christmas lights in the distance.
Oh boy, do I love this guy!
Our Christmas morning was a little unusual. Instead of waking up early to open gifts, we had to wait til after church. Church was at 9. Jer, my step dad, and I sang in the choir. I sang a solo called Mary's Lullabye. We were dying to come home and open presents. Here is Jer and I waiting to open them :)
Jonathan and Kathryn were also very excited to open their gifts. Here they are getting started.
Jer was in a car accident a couple of weeks ago where he totaled the car. It was completely the other guys fault, running a red light. It was actually sort of a blessing in the fact that his family got more money for the car then they would have ever been able to sell it for. For Christmas, it was a big joke that they were going to give Jer that car as a gift. So in his stocking they gave him the drivers manual to the old car. We were laughing pretty hard. We are so lucky that he was okay and all he got was a little scratch. We are so blessed and I know angels were watching out for him.
Here is after we opened all our gifts.
After Christmas, the baptism, the wedding and the honeymoon, we headed to AZ so my parents home out there. We got to stay there a couple days before moving all the furniture into a moving van and driving it to Logan. What a crazy first week of marraige!
I used the wrong kind of dish washing soap for the dish washer! This is what happened. So embarrassing... what a great house wife, huh? hahahaha! Well, I'm learning.
Jer had to scoop the bubble that were covering the floor outside. What a great guy.
Dad came down to help us pack the moving van. These guys are way strong and got the job done!
And so, we began our 14 our drive to Logan! Hoot Hoot! Not to mention I had strep throat and pink eye, regardless we pressed on. What a wonderful adventures! I can't wait for more to come!
